Merry Christmas!

Hello everyone and Merry Christmas! :D

This month sure has flown by, probably faster than any other December I can think of. I still can't believe it is the 21st! That means it's only FOUR days away from Christmas. FOUR.
If I was a small child, this is the point where the excitement would be unbearable, and spend my time staring at the few presents under the tree, guessing what they were.

Now I say few, because my parents were smart.
They always waited till me were alseep on Christmas Eve to put EVERYTHING out.
So, naturally our little eyeballs popped out of our heads when we saw the pile of stuff. We were blind the year they got us bikes. WITH training wheels. Ho'boy. Such spoiled children huh?

And of course we knew they were from our parents because, well, from a parents point of view, why should Santa get all the credit when he didn't even do anything?
If I was a parent, I sure wouldn't want some fat, cookie thieving man that watches my kids at night to get the credit. NO. SIR. Besides, this way if you don't get your kids what they want for Christmas, you don't get to hear them get angry at Santa, but get angry at you! :D
If that happens to be your kids. I'm terribly sorry. You may have a brat. *LOUD GASP* Just sayin...

Not only that, since my poor father was heartbroken when he found out Santa wasn't real, my mother felt thought we shouldn't go through the same thing...

Ya think he iz taking it well?

Yes. My parents are quite thoughtful. And I was quite adorable back then. Not that Im not adorible now...

But I wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, or a very happy Hanukkah. :D

I hope you all have loved ones to be near during this special time of year.
Whether you know the story of Christ and celebrate His birth on Christmas day, light a candle for Hanukkah, or you simply use it to bring your family and friends together, I hope you have a marvelous time!

And if you are that one person that doesn't have anyone to be with, I hope you know you are loved. If you get curious and wish to know the story of Christ's birth, read Luke 1:26-28, Luke 2: 1 -20,  and Matthew 2: 1-12 in the Bible. Heck, even read more than that! No one is ever alone. :D

So! May these next few days be filled with love, joy, yummy food, and gifts to your loved ones! Ok. Gifts for ourselves too. Cause face it. We all like gifts.

Merry Christmas everyone! :D

Stalking Terra

Well yesterday I decided to pull my tablet out and doodle as I Skyped with my friend.
Now, I don't draw on my tablet much anymore, because it is a bit harder for me to get lines I want, and I get SUPER sketchy. And all I have is PS Elements, so I can't make line art. (Unless you can, and I am just clueless about it. D: )
As I listened to some dramatic music by Two Steps From Hell, my scratchy doodle turned into something I actually spent time on. :D

Stalking Terra
I think I spent maybe 2-3 hours on it? That time included constantly getting up, pulling up Skype to reply, and switching songs on my Zune. Yes. A Zune.  I might be that small 1% of the population that doesn't have a device by Apple. . .

Aaaaanyway, I'm thrilled with how the trunk part came out, and enjoy my labor of love! Or some might say intimidation, but this depends on how you look at the picture. . . ;D

Thorns of a Rose

Well, sorry for not posting for awhile. School has been a bit hectic the past few weeks. (Finals. Presentations. The works.)
So, sorry for disappearing for a month or more! I'll try not to do that again. I plan to have more frequent posts I assure you!

But, I've had silly posting with some of my more cartoon-y work, so I thought I'd show you something else that I can do.

Now, I did this a few months ago (Maybe 4 to 5 months now?) and it is cut off a bit due to my scanner, so forgive me about that. :P (And that slight line you can see on the paper. That was just in the notebook, and didn't see it until I started drawing. *Facpalm*)

But I ADORE pencil work. It is my favorite medium so far in my small life, and I simply love the look of black and white/greyscale. <3

Enjoy staring at it! :D

The Tormented Artist

Well, the other day I went into an art store for the first time in months. Yes, months. For an artist this is sad. I know. (In my defense, when your dad is an artist and brings you supplies home, you really have no need to go.) But over the summer I did not draw much, and now that school has started I draw even more. Oh the irony.
BUT, this trip reminded me of how outrageously expensive things are! And then I thought about the term 'The tormented artist'.And then it hit me!

So, here we were, pulled up to the art store. Oh gosh was I excited. Art store = Candy store. I do love my candy stores thought. . . I'm getting off track here. . . Ahem!

*Gleam*

Seeing an art store is quiet exciting. Escpecially if you find one actually called Art Store. This might make shop names less confusing for people who don't regularly shop at art stores. Micheals, Blick? Whaaah?

AH!

Anyhoo. I made my way over to the notebooks, and all I wanted was a  11 x 14 notebook. And lo' and behold. over 17 dollars! I don't think I ever REALLY looked at the price of notebooks, or I just blocked this horrible fact out of my mind, to protect my fragile state of mind. Either way, I wanted to slap someone. preferably someone who would make a silly face as I slap them in slow motion. Yes, I know. I'm a terrible person.

(That will be 100 dollars please)    (Ah! B-but. . . It's only. . .4 things. . )

And then before you know it, you have 4 items, and it costs you 10 billion dollars. Yes. Billion. This is when my stomach turned, and I realized the true meaning of ' tortured artists.'

(Uhm. . .)      [Wallet ]    (I call this one, EMPTY.)

After an artist looks at the prices too long, and spends a few houses worth of money, they start to go insane. And before you know it, you have a bonifed tortured artist! Yaaaay! :D
Beware my fellow artist. Beware.

My solution to this problem? Paint on your walls like Rapunzel from Disney's Tangled did. And go get your paint from seashells that are a 3 day's journey.
The slogan for this new found solution?
WALLS AND SEASHELLS. THEY SAVE LIVES.

Aren't I clever?

Don't forget to comment, follow, and share your tortured story about an art store shopping experience. Until next time! ;D
[Drawings in this post were done with pencil, micron pens, and grey tone brush pens.]

Autograph Trauma?

Well hello there world! If ya didn't see, my name is Ariel!
Just to give you a small intro, I am an artist [My favorite mediums so far, are pencil, and ink!] and am currently going to college getting my GE classes done. I love sweets, and cats. Cats are cool.
Well! Now that that is over, for my first post, lets see if I can get ya to laugh! :]

So, the other day I was talking to my Canadian friend, and we jumped to the subject of Disneyland. And we started to talk about those characters you see running around. And it made me remember 1 memory in particular.
Now, being a cool kid and all, my mom had bought me a cool Disney pen, and autograph book.

I, was stylin'.
Soon, I was on a quest to get every character's autograph I could possibly acquire.
I got Mickey, Aladdin, Minnie, Goofy, and yes. I even got Ariel's. (Who btw, I was too shy to tell her I had the same name. . . . . . . . .  . . . . .moving on. . . . . .)

Then, I came upon. THE BEAST.
With my cool pen in hand, I approached the huge costume. And handed him my pen  and book with a sweet smile and a bit of hesitation.

Until the unthinkable happened, which should never happen to a child.

My precious pen...was violently smacked down...

That was the last day I ever asked for an autograph. . .

Now it's your turn! Comment and share your odd or funny experiences you had with characters running around in Disneyland!
I hope you enjoyed my very first post, and hopefully many more to come! (If your wondering, yes. I will be watermarking all my work. There are alot of jerks out there. I don't like jerks. Mainly the art thieving jerks.)
Subscribe and comment! Thanks guys and gals! :]
Have an awesome night!
